-----Horizon -----

Cruising down the road yesteryear

I can’t seem to remember, everclear

Trying my best to keep between the lines

Flash in the sky or am I just blind?

My heart is racing and I’m losing my mind

Press the pedal right down to the floor once more

Some say they’ve seen

Some things you can not explain

It’s time to open our eyes

It’s time to open our minds

(We’re not alone…)

Haunting figures are all around

I know I’m lost never to be found

Rising up never to be seen again

Bony fingers and oily eyes

Unearthly beings from beyond the sunrise

Bell tolls, the end is near

But this time I will not disappear

-----Crooked Bush -----

Headed down highway 40, North Saskatchewan

There is a grid road that gets you there, to a place called the Crooked Bush

It’s a forest of botanical mystery, as old as the earth beneath of it

Stretching your imagination a riddle protects it’s lies

Some say shiny chariots passed it from up high

But many others believe that’s where death’s angels lie

Welcome to the Crooked Bush

Twisted trees surrounding us

Take heed as you walk around the bend

But not at night, or you’ll meet your end

Silent sentinels guard the grove

Origins held in its roots

Dizzy, lightheaded, the full moon rises

And the brave touch the soil below

Some say shiny chariots passed it from up high

But many others believe that it’s where death’s angels lie

Welcome to the Crooked Bush

Twisted trees surrounding us

Take heed as you walk around the bend

But not at night, or you’ll meet your end

-----The Sun Will Rise -----

I lie awake at night wondering where the time has really gone

Can I make myself believe that it hasn’t really been so long?

My mother’s words, so true, now I know what I’m supposed to do

My father’s eyes, so blue, like the ocean waves I’m used to

Asleep again…

I’m falling my friend…

It’s just a dream, it seems…

Tomorrow’s where I’m meant to be

The sun will rise I think; I should pour myself another drink?

A summer’s day has come and gone, why does the winter have to be so long?

My brother’s eyes, they burn, another lesson I have yet to learn

My brother’s eyes, so red, another lesson no one ever said

Asleep again…

I’m falling my friend…

It’s just a dream, it seems…

Tomorrow’s where I’m meant to be

Asleep again…

I’m falling my friend…

It’s just a dream, it’s true…

Yesterday is all I’ve been through

-----Long Time Coming -----

I grew up in a small town, no one knew much more than oil and cows

In the middle of nowhere, I figured, I gotta get out of this place somehow

With a couple of friends and my guitar we could find a van and hit the road

Trying too hard to make it happen, that’s how the story always goes

You thought it’d been a long time coming

(Such a long time by yourself)

You thought it’d been a long time running

(Such a long time by yourself)

Now I’m older but no Wiser, unless you count the bottles on the shelf

Don’t get me wrong I never lost hope, no I couldn’t do this by myself

Get the boys back together, we’re gonna make an album which lasts forever

Now that things seem to be looking up I’ve found a place to rest my cup

You thought it’d been a long time coming

(Such a long time by yourself)

You thought it’d been a long time running

(Such a long time by yourself)

You thought it’d been a long time coming

(Such a long time by yourself)

You thought it’d been a long time running

(Such a long time by yourself)

You thought it’d been a long time coming

(Such a long time by yourself)

-----Derailed -----

Wakin’, bacon, in the early morn

I’m feeling better than the night before

Headin’ out into another storm

I’m singing in the rain and I’m stuck behind a train

and I don’t know when my days gonna end.

Light up and have a smoke, a case of beer, an inside joke,

and soon I will be sleeping in my bed

We’re surrounded now by the northern lights

And I can only see when the lightning strikes

Driving on all day and through the night

I’m singin’ in the rain and I’m stuck behind a train

and I don’t know when my days gonna end

Light up and have a smoke, a case of beer, an inside joke,

and soon I will be sleeping in my bed

I’m sitting in the rain and I’m stuck behind a train

and I don’t know when my days gonna end

Light up and have a smoke, a case of beer, an inside joke,

and soon I will be sleeping in my bed

-----Flashback -----

What is the value of this life, one’s soul that lies inside?

Chemically programmed by a device, from a planet way up high

Short glimpse of a memory from before, an oath, we all agreed to more

It’s business as they say...  Cash out at the end of the day...

Marching through darkness, delusional, disturbed and wandering.

Flashback once more

Flashback before

Cross-hairs are fixed, trigger pulled, kill or be killed is what this is

Wearing a blindfold sharpens your sense, blood quickly rushes to your brain

Snap back to reality, a flashback of a forgotten tragedy

There is no time for fear in this life, let in the beauty of the night

Flashback once more

Flashback before

Flashback once more

Flashback before

-----Ominous -----

All of the times we’ve seen have changed, all of our minds they’re not the same

Although the day has come, I’m not moving on.

And though the past it still remains, reminded by the dust and decay

Maybe we have gone, but not for too long...

We’re so close, not a billion miles away

Oh, we’re not alone, we fear the day.

The day will come, we’ll ride towards the sky.

But don’t worry now, the end is nigh’.

Now the machines have won, visitors dead and done

What is left to come?  No one’s to say.

And when I look outside, much to my surprise

There’s nowhere left to hide.  The future’s today.

We’re so close, not a billion miles away

Oh, we’re not alone, we fear the day.

The day will come, we’ll ride towards the sky.

But don’t worry now, the end is nigh’.

And when I look outside, much to my surprise

There’s nowhere left to hide.  The future’s today.

-----Magic Girl -----

Well I went to Alberta, to see the farmland

But when we got there, she made me work the floorhand.

And then we went to Saskatoon, to see the bridges

But when we got there, she made me unbutton my britches, yeah

Couldn’t think of my last words to say

As my world started slipping away from me girl, you magic girl.

And then we went to Vancouver, to see Whistler Mountain,

But when we got there, I couldn’t find the fountain.

And then we went to California, to see the ocean

But when we got there, she made me drink her potion.

Couldn’t think of my last words to say

As my world was slipping away from me girl, you magic girl.

Then we paddled up to Flinflon, to see the northern shield

But when we got there, she laid me to the field.

And then we went to Montreal, to see the dancing ladies

But when we got there, she made me play the ‘80’s, oh no.

Couldn’t think of last words to say

As my world started slipping away from me girl, you magic girl.

Now we’re headed to Hawaii, in order to get laid

But when we get there, the ladies will make us pay.

And now we’re going to Australia, to see the mighty Thunder,

But when we get there, she’ll make me go down under…

I couldn’t think of my last words to say

As my world was slipping away from me girl, you magic girl.

-----Petroleum Skies -----

Rising up into the air

haze is all around.

Fire falls from solar flares

burnin on the ground.

And it’s still burning.

Towers stretch into the sky

make a city from a town.

And all the trucks are passing by

adding to the sound… (the sound of fortune)

Under petroleum skies we quietly live our lives

although our time is fading

Before we lay down and die we’ll find out just what it’s like

to break it... the earth is shaking.

Under petroleum skies

Drilling deeper under-ground

all for the crown.

Striking gold, we’ll melt it down

riches are found

And we’ll keep searching.

Slave to the grid that lets us live

never let us down

Just take your cheque and turn around

never show a frown

and keep on walkin’

-----Get Ahead, Fall Behind -----

A century of lies and crimes, with T.V. shows to fog our minds

There is a fact that we must face, there’s something wrong with the human race

I have opened my eyes

I can see the truth surrounding my mind

Getting ahead just to fall behind,

Part of the plan to keep us in line

World leaders threaten nuclear war, realize we are the pawns on the board.

System disabled and thoroughly worn, tension is rising it’s a bomb at your door

I have opened my eyes

I can see the truth surrounding my mind

Getting ahead just to fall behind,

Part of the plan to keep us in line

Oh my god are you for real?

Shake my hand and seal the deal

We’ll eat your bread and drink your wine

You treat us all like we treat our swine

A new breed of man is born, unseat the throne of our overlords

Weary eyes watch us from the sky, questioning our motives why

Beyond lost, circuits crossed, denial dies keep breaking the laws

Technology has brought us this far, when will we know who we truly are?

I have opened my eyes

I can see the truth surrounding my mind

Getting ahead just to fall behind,

Part of the plan to keep us in line

Open my eyes

I can see the truth surrounding my mind

We’re falling behind

Part of the plan to keep us in line

-----ICBM -----

ICBM

I see the end

And the walls are caving in

And I will not pretend

ICBM

I see the end

And our brothers are goin' to war

And I will not ignore

They want the land that belongs to us

They will not stop at any cost

The war machine is on the rise

Fire is lighting up the skies

ICBM

I see the end

And the walls are caving in

And I will not pretend

ICBM

I see the end

And our brothers are goin' to war

And I will not ignore

Decades have passed since a world war

The beasts are surely getting bored

Armed to the teeth and they’re ready to go

Prepared to put on a hell of a show

-----Robbin’ the Hood -----

Late night, craving snacks, running out to the store

Piss drunk, walkin’ home, starting to get bored

Parked cars on the streets; I’m lookin’ to explore

Stealin’ goods from the hood, they didn’t lock up their doors

Stumbling down the road, are you having fun?

Don’t wake the neighbours or you might just have to start to run

They called a cop, here he comes, probably has a gun

Think quick, don’t you trip, try and beat the sun

Lights are flashing as you’re runnin’ away

But I ain’t worried ‘cause they won’t catch you anyway

Stupid kid, stole my kicks, now I’m stuck in my socks

Must have robbed every single person on the block

My girlfriend lost her bag, now where could it have gone?

If I find him I will lay his ass out on the lawn

Don’t need the cops to teach a lesson today

Leave the justice to the people if you want it done the right way

Lights are flashing as you’re runnin’ away

But I ain’t worried ‘cause they won’t catch you anyway

Don’t need the cops to teach a lesson today

Leave the justice to the people if you want it done the right way

-----Wasted Days -----

Time is an open book we are reading

Flipping the pages of life

We might not look at the lives we are leading

And let our journey pass us by

The air that we breathe it is thinning

Clearing thoughts right out of our minds

Drink from the cups we are given

Wait for tomorrow to decide

Slowly moving forward we’ll take it step-by-step

And we will keep our feet right on the ground

Losing concentration, swear we will not forget

We won’t lose our motivation now

All the wasted days I’m alive

Life is an open book we are reading

Burning the pages of time

Take a look at the lives you are living

Don’t let the journey pass us by

-----Sweet Charlie -----

A question over religion
A writer's assassination
Oh man,

He didn't make it out alive

It's a familiar situation

A woman serving her nation

In order to avoid annihilation

She'll have to live with the assimilation

Woman,

She didn't make it out alive

Caught in the arms of a martyr

It frightens sons and daughters

They set a human on fire

Crushing that desire

God damn,

We won't make it out alive

How are we supposed to survive?

Face the evidence

We won't make it out alive

-----Old Hag -----

Her image is burned into my eyes.

A god awful, wretched sight.

Kneeling over me... it’s taking my life.

My soul is lifting from inside.

White light in my window; I don’t wanna die.

Say your prayers, it’s time to wave goodbye.

Goodbye.

Faceless, she hovers over me

Blackest night,  too blind to see

Please awaken me from this dream

My soul is lifting from inside.

White light in my window; I don’t wanna die.

Say your prayers, it’s time to wave goodbye.

Goodbye.

-----All Set -----

Wander down the road less travelled on

Another choice to make, I sing a lonely song

Please don't take me for a wanted man

I want you to know me for who I am

All set, forget

Anyone that ever tried to put you down

All set, regret

Nothing more than sitting by yourself at home

All set, I bet

Today that you will not be alone

Alone again

When I was young they told me sticks and stones can break your bones yeah

When I grew old I found that words can tear right through you

What I learned from yesterday

Will keep me going on my way

Walk outside and find that we're all wide awake

All set, forget

Anyone that ever tried to put you down

All set, regret

Nothing more than sitting by yourself at home

All set, I bet

Today that you will not be alone

-----Fine Line -----

Many years ago
They came walking this way
Searching for a place to stay
Founded on sobriety
They drew a line on the ground
Separate an entire town
Without a river to be found
And with the passing of the day
Sinking deeper into clay, woahoh
Their only hope was to try and run away

Yeah!

Too many long nights of rock & roll
Didn't think that it would take its toll
Feel the pain burn down in my soul

Takin' any job just to stick around
The economy is down
Ain't no reason to wear a frown
Work for cash, no money to save
We got bills for days
Get in, get out, and get paid

Too many long nights of rock & roll
Didn't think that it would take its toll
Feel the pain burn down in my soul

Walkin' a fine line
Walkin' a fine again

-----Red Planet -----

The day will come
We will discover where we came from
It is so obvious, our civilization...
Modern man ain't so modern

Stories from the past
Etched in sand
For miles and miles
There are signs of desolation

Caverns of ice
Forever frozen like an anvil
Rivers flowing underground and unseen
By the naked eye (I, I, I)

I don't know...
If this is for sure...
Oh I don't know
Have we been here before?
Have we been here before?

The Red Planet isn't far away:
It is our past; our lost humanity.
It is our choice. It is our destination.
It's in our hearts and in our imagination.

I don't know...
Oh I don't know
Have we been here before?

The Red Planet isn't far away:
It is our past; our lost humanity.
It is our choice. It is our destination.
It's in our hearts and in our imagination.

The Red Planet. Yeah.
